The signs you describe are common signs of weakness. Insulinoma would be one cause, but there are many other problems that may present similarly. The masses or tumor of insulinoma are very small, most often only a few millimeters in diameter and would typically not be felt by palpation (feeling from outside his body). There is a chance that your veterinarian felt a large tumor (most likely not an insulinoma).
In most cases some testing, and possibly radiographs, would be taken to diagnose insulinoma. Blood glucose levels being the most common test.

Just wanted to add another note. Of the very, very many labs and goldens that I have owned, trained or had a part in training Cain has been by far the smartest. From a Mother's perspective he is the only dog that has not chewed up a thing in the house. With a 6 yr old and a 2 year old ( and all their toys) this is really saying something. No destroyed furniture! We keep him in our large kitchen that adjoins the family room and never put up a baby gate. He learned quickly at 7 wks old to stay in the kitchen. He is a great addition to the family--- oh, and from a veterinarian's perspective you were fantastic to work with and you do a fantastic job with the puppies.

Thanks,
Jennifer Bumgarner, DVM

1. Tell your friends about what you struggle with
Your friends can’t be there for you if they don’t know what’s going on. If you are 3,000 miles away from home, having people who can give you a good hug on a bad day is invaluable.
2. Be assertive
Make sure that you have the accommodations you need, whether it’s housing or academic. You may be embarrassed about the reasons, but it’s worth it.
3. Draw strength from your experience
College students who make it through with chronic illnesses are heroes. Own what you overcame and recognize your awesomeness.
