Steroid tablets eczema side effects

I got this in May…right after I had a severe panic attack,, I had been dealing with alot of stress, I had two children with in 22 months of each other, and dealing with postpartum,, I have not been able to get back to my ole’ self. All the anxiety, stress, depression, panic attacks, I could feel the tow it was taking inside me, I believe for me, it is 100% related to the panic attacks, stress etc.. I agree with the article, and in general if I got more excercize I think it would help,, I had eczema on all my fingers, and have been taking a type of steroid creme to put on my fingers,, now it is mainly my thumb, at times it feels raw and hurts most the time,, how I would love to feel my babies soft skin without the roughness of my peeled rough skin.. some of the tips of my fingers feel a little numb. I am doing my best to try and take it easy, not stress so much,, excercize is hard, having the two little ones with no one to watch, and I can’t afford a gym membership,,just wanted to tell you all to hang in there,,

Lots of unsubstantiated alternative eczema therapies are promoted in the press. Be wary of these claims.  Miraculous natural cures for eczema often contain crushed cortisone tablets.  Evening Primrose oil (or gamolenic acid), flaxseed & omega 3 oils offer no real additional benefit to eczema.   Chinese herbal tea extracts have been evaluated but taste unpleasant and may even cause liver toxicity. Recalcitrant eczema on the face may respond to non-steroidal immune-modulator preparations such as Tacrolimus (Protopic) and Pimecrolimus (Elidel) however skin redness may be a temporary side effect. Ultra-violet light therapy treatment has been helpful so get out into the sunshine! There is growing proof that lactobacillus GG probiotics (Reuterina) supplemented in pregnancy, breastfeeding and early in life may reduce eczema in babies by altering their gut immune reactivity.

Definitely cut out the dairy - I was where you are Rachel when DD1 was 18 mo's, when eczema got bad enough for doc to prescribe steriod cream (having tried oilatum etc) I wasn't happy as I had eczema as a child and know just how uncomfy it is, I wanted a solution not a sticking plaster. I went to a homeopath who confirmed DD was allergic to milk/dairy. We cut it out altogether tho' were caught out at first with things like ham and oven chips provoking a reaction as they contained milk powder - you have to be absolutely vigilant about looking at ingredients. We used goat's milk (formula then the real stuff) instead which DD liked. After 9 mo's to a year we noticed her tolerance had improved remarkably (had a few false starts before this) to the point where she could have milk morning and night, lots of cheese and yoghurts again, she's always loved dairy (often the way in intolerant people!). Lately however she's found that a cup of milk or a yoghurt makes her tummy feel really uncomfortable - and only gets the faintest trace of ezcema behind her knees (used to be elbows). The homeopath prescribed us some tablets when we saw her which I duly adminstered so no idea if these helped or not. A mutated allergy perhaps!
Good luck - cut out dairy altogether and I hope you will see a vast improvement. Doctors IMHO dont' know as much about allergy/food intolerance as I'd hope given how common it seems to be.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this, and to gather all this information. I have been suffering from Eczema for most of my life – I am currently 23 years old and suffer from it. I am originally from Australia and recently moved to to pursue acting, and since I’ve been here my skin has gotten worse and worse. I think possibly due to the weather, moving out of home so learning how to cook and feed myself correctly, as well as increased stress and lack of sleep from dealing with every day life and auditions. I have been following your blog for the past few months, and I have taken bits and pieces from it when really helped. But as soon as I started reading your book I got goosebumps – I finally felt like this was the answer I had been looking for. In the past 3 months alone since it is now Summer I have taken 2 steroid shots and 3 rounds of steroid tablets since I have had so many flare ups, but I finally feel confident that with the advice and information in this book, that I can now maintain and hopefully completely rid myself of my eczema forever! I would highly recommend this book to everyone with eczema, as it truly contains all the information that if you follow it, it will really help your journey towards being eczema free forever! Thanks for being a messenger and bringing this information to the rest of the world! – Emily C. (Reader)
